About Hilliard Optimist Instructional Tackle Football The Hilliard Optimist Club offers Instructional Tackle Football in the Fall for youth ages 7-8. Official league age is determined by participant's age as of August 1st. Maximum weight limit for participants is 90 pounds. Teams are co-ed and generally consist of 16 players. The Hilliard Optimist Club competes in the Northwest Football League which is comprised of teams throughout Central Ohio. Some travel may be required throughout the Season which consists of ten (10) games, generally played on Saturday or Sunday afternoons. The Northwest Football league is an instructional league which guarantees that each player either starts on Offense or Defense in order to provide as equal playing time as possible. No substitutions are allowed except in the case of injury.
