2010/11 Topic: "How my Education is the Key to a Successful Future"
Eligibility
The contest is open to students under age 19 as of December 31st of the current school year.
SEE YOUR ADVISOR, or GUIDANCE OFFICE REPRESENTATIVE FOR AN APPLICATION AND CONTEST RULES, OR YOUR LOCAL OPTIMIST REPRESENTATIVE.

2010-11 Hilliard Optimist Club Essay Contest
The contest is judged by qualified judges selected by, but not members of the Hilliard Optimist Club."
Each contestant submitted a 500 word or less original essay. Congratulations to:
1st Place Zachary Slotta, Davidson High School
2nd Place Sarah Vermillion , Darby High School
3rd Place Phillip Martin , Davidson High School
The First place Essay is submitted for the District competition where contestant is eligible
to compete for both District and International scholarships. Each winner
receives a Medallion and cash prizes.

Purpose
This contest is sponsored by Optimist International to give young people
the opportunity to write about their own opinions regarding the world in
which they live. The approach can encompass a young person's personal
experience, the experience of their country or a more historical
perspective. The topic selected each year is intended to give young people
the room to develop their own views around a central idea. In addition
to the opportunity for written expression, participants have the opportunity
to win a college scholarship of up to $5,000! Each year, more than 1,000
Clubs participate in this contest.
